once you complete a medical office assistant certificate, is there more needed to get a job in a medical office? what is the salary like and is this a weekday job or any weekends mandatory? what're the hours like? is the healthcare office assistant, or clinical office assistant the same thing-how do they vary? anyone that is either IN this career or knows about it-please help.

also....does this career (getting a certificate) enough to get a job or is a DEGREE required? and is this career require math or egneral courses if your getting a certificate or does it require JUSt the medical office related courses?

I took a Med. Assitant (including the office assistant) and it depends what kind of office you work for most of then are only open M-F. and closed Holidays. The office assistant is front office the clinical is back office their the ones that draw blood take your bp etc...

You are smart to research this before making a decision. I did the similar thing in AOL (back when AOL was young) before I went to college for ultrasound technologist. You may want to find a message board specifically for healthcare workers and ask your questions there. If I can find one, I will list it for you. Generally speaking, people like to talk about themselves, which is what I asked of ultrasound technologists during my research. Meanwhile, here are a few sites which may help you with some of your questions. Off my cuff, I will tell you that in my area medical office assistants are not very well paid. You sound intelligent. Maybe you should try something different that will challenge you more and reward the challenge with a better wage.

The doctor will pay you peanuts for the assistance you provide him with, look for another line of work where you will get the respect you deserve..let him get his own paperwork
