less oxygen. people who live in denver or the foot hills/mountains actually have more red blood cells than people at lower elevations thats why olympic teams train here

The atmosphere is thinner the higher you go. Because of that, there's not as much Oxygen at higher elevations. People who live in higher areas are used to it, because their blood has adapted to the lack of Oxygen, and is able to carry more Oxygen to different parts of the body. If you stay in an area long enough so that your blood takes on this adaptation, too (getting acclimated), you would have an easier time breathing.... If you're hiking, and your body is trying had to get all the oxygen you can get, its even harder to breathe. That's why mountain climbers spend time at high elevations before ascending the mountain.

That is because the air is "thinner". What that means is there is less air pressure to force the oxygen into your bloodstream and so you are actually getting less oxygen per breath. You usually have to overcome this by having a rich Oxygen source to make up the difference.(i.e. oxygen tank)

Cuz of lack of oxygen on higher altitude which is normal as u get higher on the mountain.

Cuz the higher you go, the less oxygen you'll find. So your heart starts "working" more than usual, trying to get the most oxygen possible.

The air gets thinner (the higher up you are, the less oxygen atoms there are in a given space).

Thats obivious theirs not enough oxygen as you climb higher. Thats due because your body is not used to and its not made for those extreme heights nor temperature.
