I believe that "Magot" is just a generalized term for any type of insect larvae. They could grow up to be any type of bug, but generally the term refers to flies.

The typical maggots that appear in garbage or on dead animals turn into flies of various kinds. There are also a number of similar looking larvae which turn into other types of insects.
