Hey Corey,

I agree with the others but I need to point out that the $$$ is for harvested eggs. In order to have your eggs harvested you must pass a very rigorous psychological, physical and background check. They will also need such things as family medical history for a great length of time and may even need you to take an IQ test.

You are selling a product, nothing more. And they want to make sure that they are getting the most for their money.

Yes, egg donors are compensated for their time, travel, and donation. It is typically around five grand, as I understand it. However, for the donor, there is hormone therapy to go through, which can be rough, as well as the painful process of harvesting the eggs. It's not just a matter of going to the doctor once, giving up some eggs and getting a check. It is a long and ongoing process that isn't something I'd ever do. Definitely research "egg donation" before you even consider doing it.

I know someone who was the recipient of an egg donor. The donor must first be well screened both physically and mentally and emotionally. Remember, you are giving a potential baby of YOURS to someone else. Your child is going to belong to someone else. Also, IF you pass all the tests, you must go on hormones to increase your egg production. Then the eggs need to be harvested surgically to be fertilized with a man's sperm an implanted in another woman where, hopefully, a baby will grow. Could you handle that baby being your biological baby? Can you put a price on that?

yes thats the general going rate. its not complicated surgery, however it involves lots of bloodwork, daily injections usually, and retrieval of the eggs, which is basically a long needle insterted to get them out.. not pleasant but its not like they dont give you medication either.. but you're ok afterwards too, its not like you need time to recover.
