They're small enough to throw at Prince Philip when he says something stupid.

I've often wondered this, too. Our son and daughter-in-law have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi that looks exactly like the Queen's dogs. Before my son was married, this dog lived at our home, and he was a kind of strange dog. They are all very much the same, I would imagine.

He was somewhat shy, not inclined to bark at strangers who came in-- more likely to go and hide some place. When any of us came home, and he knew us, he would run to the door and bark hello at us. He has this really nice "smile" type of face. His fur is light colored, and his eyes and lips are very dark, so his expressions are very vivid. He has short legs, so he really can't jump on people very easily. I would have to say he was either not very smart, or fairly stubborn... as he just didn't do tricks, like some breeds do. We were never able to leash train him very well, as he hated being on a leash, and he had no neck, so he would slip out of a collar, or even a harness, fairly easily. He hated having his picture taken, and would run away in fear when anybody aimed a camera at him. A very "different" type of dog who was only friendly with those he knew very well.
