Which way would you recommend to best avoid hypocrisy?

to avoid hypocrisy. You live your life according to the New Testament. Whatever change it takes. You do it.
Your question could be answered either way and still be wrong both ways.

We should change the way we live to fit our beliefs. Changing beliefs to fit the way one lives is in itself hypocrisy.

That is such a good question, I Believe we do change our beliefs some to fit our life styles, But I don`t think God has changed is mind on what he expects from us though. think for the most part we all believe in the same God, we just don`t all see that he is saying the same thing, we twist and turn it to suit our selfs, But he is the Only God, that can save us from Hell.
