Most kittens like to play. Get a long-handled cat toy. Even a long piece of grass with the seeds on the end will work. Entice the kitty out with this toy, then bring it closer and closer to you. Wrap a towel around her when you get her, and bring her into the house, confining her to one room. You should have a litter box, food, water, and something soft for her to curl up on and go to sleep.
Take her to a vet as soon as possible.
Good luck.

Keep in mind you should use caution, Rabies is always a concern, especially if you do not know this cat. This cat is probably feral and scared, so by all means be careful. I would recommend one of two things.
1. If you have a Have a Heart Trap (you can also rent them), bait the trap with canned cat tuna if that does not work regular human canned tuna, keep an old sheet or blanket on hand, after you have successfully trapped the cat, cover the trap with the sheet, it will keep the cat less stressed and it will not be able to claw at you as easily either.
2. If you yourself feel uncomfortable with trapping the cat, you may want to check around in your area, there are cat rescue people that will come out and trap the cat for you, they are usually better at it than we are.
Good Luck to you.

Okay, this might sound mean, but do what's best for her (or him). Enclose her with something like, baby gates, and then provoke her to come near you with milk or food. It is important that you get her out of there before winter. Another way is to set a trap (that WON'T kill her) and capture it. An alternerate option (and probably the best) is to call animal control. They can definitly get her out. They have certain ways to get a scared animal out of hiding. And if you wanted to keep it, they might let you. Or, you could always go adopt it back from the shelter. =] Good luck, and let us know how it turned out!

I only know about cats a little bit,(Since I am a dog person) but I used to take care of a stray cat until she found her owner. I think you should leave her in peace. She is probably using your deck as shelter. Please don't give her any more milk! Milk keeps her from getting the nutrients she needs. Just give her water, food, and love until she comes out and trusts you.

Gosh. Uhhhhhh, have you tried the cat food in the box trick? Get a racoon trap or armidillo trap (neither will hurt the cat at all) and put food in it. It's worth a shot if you really want to get that cat out. Try to wear gloves because if that cat is how you described it, then it will probably scratch or bite the crap out of you. I am really sorry, I have this situation all the time in my neighborhood. Good luck!

Keep giving her food and drink. Talk to her as often as you can to befriend her. Try bringing her toys and catnip. Have a cat carrier ready for when she comes out. When she does come out, grab her by the fur at the back of the neck. It won't hurt her; that is the way mama cats carry their kittens. Take her to the vet when you get her to have her checked out.
Good luck!

Kittens need to be handled carefully. Call the SPCA in your area and they will usually help out. Also they might be able to find a loving home for the kitten(a good shelter is choosy about who they allow to adopt animals under their care).

I suggest that you call your local animal catcher for the sake of the kitten...because as you say it's nearing winter and the kitten will need shelter along with medical attention. It's the right thing to do.

put some milk under a box that's propped up by a stick with a string tied to it.. when the kitten gets under the box, pull the stick out.. you won't hurt the kitten if you do it when it's all the way under the box.. then you can catch it and take care of it..

I now how you feel. My sister and I found two cats under the shed at one of our old houses, we couldn't get them out. we tyred EVERYTHING! One day we got one of the kittens to come out from under the shed. we took it to our mother. She came down stairs with some tuna we got the another kitten out. The one (the second kitten) kitten was terrified. We have had the 2 cat's for about 8 years now. I think the best thing for you to use would be tuna, that's how we got the second cat out from under the shed. Hope you can get the kitten out from under your steps. Good luck!
