How unsanitary! Sharing sewage is just way to intimate. Do you really want to get that intimate with your neighbors? Gee, you'd might as well be sharing toothbrushes.

I think the best thing to do is not only let them use your toilet snake, but insist on doing the work yourself. You get double points this way - you look like a Saint, but you also get to make sure your tools are taken care of and returned to you.
Another added bonus - you will have a much easier time asking them for a favor next time!

I have been the neighbor that needed one and my neighbor didn't let me borrow it, he came over with it and fixed the problem for me. It turned out to be something that the snake wouldn't have fixed anyway.

I'd only worry if you haven't loaned something to them before. Most people won't take care of something borrowed like they would something of their own. but to answer your question, no i would not let my neighbor borrow my snake.

if i had a toilet snake and a neighbours toilet is backing up and they ask me to borrow my toilet snake...of course i would let them use it...just as long as they return it after their done.
