could that be a start of an eating disorder?

Sounds like he might be over controlling. You should be able to feel comfortable eating in front of him.

Many of us females have this problem when we start seeing someone new. i don't think u have an eating disorder, but you will get over this as the new wears off the relationship. It won't be long before you will find some other thing to obsess about, and it won't be eating in front of him.

Man I love girls to eat in front of me, I hate to have girls not eat and me be the only one. If they don't eat I usually don't ask them out again because I don't want to date someone with an eating disorder.

i used to be like that. when i was growing up my grandfather would sit and stare at me while i was eating-it annoyed me really badly and i hated it. if whats bothering you is him looking at you constanty while you eat, tell him to not stare. i eventually got over it, but every time he starts to just stare at me i quit and stare back and he gets the point. just eat in fromt of him and if he has a problem with it, 5 months is not a very long time to waste. dont let it turn into an eating disorder though, because it can do that. i hope this helps. blessed be.

First off, why can't you eat in front of him? If it's something that he says or does get ride of him. If its you conscience then get over it. You can get a eating disorder that way but you have to want to help yourself to over come it before it gets that way. Good Luck. And start eating in front of him.

You are being very self- conscious.... that's all. Unless you are afraid to eat in front of your boyfriend, because you don't want him to worry you might get fat....that would definitely be going in that direction. I thought that maybe you think you might look ugly when you are chewing or something... You should be able to do anything in front of your boyfriend. If it was a remark from him that made you act this way...definitely he isn't healthy for you....take the first answer to your question to heart...find somebody who makes you feel much more relaxed.

How long have you been with him ? Are you able to be yourself around him?
Stop worrying what he thinks. Just eat girl ! EAt Eat Eat !!! I used to be that way to when I was younger, sometimes I don't like to eat in front of other
people. But I will if I have to. Don't think about it so much, enjoy your life.

I used to be shy about eating in front others, but hey we all have to eat. And everybody knows that. Just don't order anything messy when you go out to eat (examples Ribs, Buffalo Wing) things that require finger licking they're fine once your comfortable eating around him.

no silly my sisters and i went through this as little girls not being able to eat in front of our dad he use to joke that he was going to save a lot on grocery bills dont worry u will grow out of it u r just starting a little late with this.

No. Just nerves. When my husband took me out on our first date I couldn't eat either. He just kept looking at me across the table and said he couldn't take his eyes off of me and I was really nervous, so I didn't eat hardly anything. You'll get over it. Don't worry.
