I'm not aware of any group advocating using the Psalms of David for "magic." Considering how deeply spiritual and loving toward God David's Psalms are, I don't see how they possibly could be used for such evil purposes!
Many of David's Psalms are prophetic. Consider, for example, Psalm 22, which tells us what Jesus would say and think while on the cross.
Personally, whenever I wish to feel really close to God, reading a Psalm written by David ALWAYS does it.
Peace.

Well, considering the ancient Israelites were stoned for practicing magic, and King David was a Hebrew...That's probably not an accurate concept of the original purpose of the Psalms.
Also, in the time of the First Century Christians, magic was condemned by Jesus and all his followers (i.e., When the Epesians burned all their books of magic), so really magic has no place in any scripture, including Psalms.

Since the Psalms (of David and other writers) is part of the Bible canon, we should read and meditate on them regularly.
But, "praying with the Psalms" would not be pleasing to God. Read Matthew 6:1-8 to see how Jesus says we should pray, and note especially verse 7, which basically tells us not to pray the same words over and over again.
Think about it..... Would your earthly (human, biological) father be pleased if you said the exact same words to him over and over again? Would that be a good basis for a personal relationship or an intimate friendship?
Our heavenly Father, Jehovah God, wants us to use our thinking ability and power of reason when speaking with him. He wants our words to come from our hearts, not from some book.
PS - You are correct about staying away from anything having to do with spiritism, including magic. (See Deuteronomy 18:10-12 and Revelation 21:8.)

The Psalms were songs sung by early Jews. Use them as you please. It is no coincidense that those who practice assorted form of scorcery use things from the Bible they are more aware than most christians of the power whichexists in even the words only

They weren't really used in magic; just in song and worship like Gospel music nowadays.

Yes we should, they're designed for that. If the magicians or whatever use them well, good for them i guess.
