What Is A Cowlick?
Cowlicks occur when hair forms a pivot that distributes the hair from a specific point around in all different directions.
On some heads the hair recedes at the temple hairline causing a type of erratic hair pattern.
Cowlicks are most often found in the crown area but they may also be found along the front of the hairline around the face and the nape areas.
Most people are born with their cowlicks. People that suffer hair from chemotherapy or other illness may be horrified to discover that a new cowlick pattern will emerge along with their regrowth of their hair.
No one is exempt from the dreaded cowlick. Lots of famous people have cowlicks. Famous beauty, super model Claudia Schiffer, is reported to have not one but two cowlicks at the front of her hairline.

A cowlick may actually be genetic. I do know that cowlicks stay for life. What you need is a good stylist who can work with the cowlick to incorporate the cowlick into a style that works. No gel, hair spary, etc will work...it is in your genes. You may have to pay more for a style but it is worth it to find a good stylist who will give you a "do" and instruct you in how to manage the cowlicks.

Keep your hair a little bit longer in the cowlick areas. This will allow the weight of the hair to slick the cowlick down. Even double cowlicks can be trained to behave with persistance.
I myself have a double cowlick. One on each side of my crown.

A cowlick is where the cow licked you when you were born, lol.
Actually you can't do anything about a cowlick or the two that you have. It's a done deal. You're born with it. Have your stylist style around it the best that can be done.'

A cowlick is a pattern of hair growth. They usually curve a part of your hair one way. there isn't much that you can do about them except keeping your hair really short or growing it long in which case the weight of the hair then straightens it out until your hair is cut shorter. Lucky you dont have a double one in the one spot.

I don't think you can tame it. Go with the natural way that it fall to. My daughter has 2 cowlicks, too. Just let it be.

It's actually just what it sounds like, it's like a cow licked your hair and it just stayed like that. I have two too, but mine are both in the front and I've stopped trying to tame them, they actually kind of frame my face. Sorry that I couldn't have been of more help.

Its the way the hair grows in those areas. You have two options. Grow it longer so it weighs itself down, or cut it really short before it sticks up. But everytime it grows it will go through that same stage again.
