I like to think that you date to find that special someone but it isn't that because you could be out with with a group of friends or shopping with your mom and he just walk by and then when you see him you will just know but then again if I look how I met my boyfriend 4 years ago I went out to get horribly drunk, hopefully meet someone take him home and have my way with him, and well lets just say he still hasn't gone back home.
so yes I would say you date to meet that special someone but it can happen anywhere even when you aren't looking
