I am a guy with shoulder length hair and normally wear it in a low ponytail. I went to a different stylist for a trim and she has cut in a lot (and I mean a lot) of layers into my hair (to give it some body she said and thin it out). Now the front kind of frames my face a bit too much, and when I try and tie it back into a ponytail, first off, I have to tie the ponytail back higher than usual and secondly the front bits won't reach and just keep framing my face making it look too feminine. I know I need to let it grow out, but is there anything I can do in the interim?

Lol! Come'on ladies there's nothing wrong with long hair on guys. If you can pull it off, awesome! When it works, it really looks good. Maybe this isn't the best recommendation, but when I had short hair, I just used bobby pins to pin back the extra fringe. It can be real simple, just get some that match your hair color, and pin the so that you can see them. Simply, easy solution that works. And really if you like the long hair, I can't imagine using bobby pins (that wouldn't even be noticeable) would bother you. In my experience (which is more than you'd think) guys that care enough to get long hair cut and styled, make it look good. So more power to you and good luck.

If you do not want to cut your hair short and the pony tail is not working for you right now, just don't do the pony tail right now, use mousse or some other product, you might have to experiment to find the right one and wear your hair down. Just let the layers grow out. Don't let any stylist cut your layers or thin your hair at all any more. Thinning the hair takes out body. Go to the hair dresser that you normally go to from now on and just have her trim your hair from the bottom, eventually the layers will grow out. Good luck

1. Long hair on guys is (in my opinion) gross. My first suggestion would be to cut it.
2. If cutting it is out of the question, then you'll have to use a styling product. A hairspray might work, but you could also try using a pomade or paste, which has strong, pliable hold and a matte finish. Use a tiny bit to "glue" the ends of the face-framing pieces back.

yep you could just cut it short period...and grow it out again. other than you stuck with the layers for a long time...it's hard to grow out layers. Honestly, I would just cut it really short and start all over again....I don't think you are going to want a feminie hair style for the next year or so.

blow dry it over your head, throw it back and then put spray in. it'll make it look a bit rougher.
