Non believers who have studied the issue are more or less in agreement with biblical scholars on that account. By and large we have no clue, and neither do you. We know something of the traditions that have kept the Tenach ("Old Testament") in more or less the same form for many centuries. We also know a bit about how the Romans created the committee that cobbled together the "New Testament."

But again, aside from a few sources, e.g., Paul, very little is known about the real authors - even of the "New Testament."

The 4 gospels were arbitrarily chosen because they represented the most popular interpretations of Jesus' message. I think the apostles got much of their interpretation wrong and their respective camps just added to the misinterpretation. Note that we see the gnostic gospels at the same time but that view was discarded and then later -- arbitrarily -- dismissed as heresy. Much of the New Testament has Paul (Saul of Tarsus) experessing his thoughts on the theology of early christianity in his letters to the early christian communities. He never even met Jesus yet because he was charismatic, his thoughts made it in. If you then look at the development of christianity, a bunch of other theologians added to defining the beliefs of christianity.

uhhh i am sorry to be the one to tell you but nobody has any doubts about who wrote the bible. some was written by solomon, a lot by moses, some by david and so on. there is no mystery or debate between christians and atheists about this. nobody thinks it was actually written by "god", not even christians unless they are uninformed idiots.
