I'm not sure which church you're referencing, but most of them don't hold BMWs.

Even if a church parking lot did, you've answered your own question. Jesus didn't say it's IMPOSSIBLE for a rich person to get to Heaven; He said it's DIFFICULT. There's quite a big difference.

Honestly, I know several folks who drive regular cars and it's questionable whether even they are going; yet, by your logic, they should be first in the Heaven line! So I don't think it's correct to judge a person's salvation status by their car. Instead, the Judge of all humankind doesn't look at a person's material possessions; He will look at that person's faith and works.

Peace.

p.s. -- not all BMWs are driven by rich folks. Nowadays, anyone can lease a Beamer for cheap.

Jesus' message was misunderstood and his metaphor was made literal. He said it's hard for a rich person to enter heaven which means ANYONE who attaches to things of this world (where NOTHING lasts) will have a major problem overcoming their attachment to their ego identity -- the identity that tells us we're this body (psychological and physical). Why? Because only a psychological self that thinks it's real and is a body will be attached to these things and, therefore, it reinforces the foundation of suffering: this wrong identification with the body/psychological self. So ... he was just stating a fact about how our 'Mind' works. 'Heaven' is when the self drops away and we realize we're everything, not limited to this body/self (it's called 'enlightenment'). When that happens, death and birth are meaningless. But if we stay attached to things that reinforce our body/self identity, then we'll miss it. Now, it's very important to realize that REJECTING the riches of the world is the SAME thing as being attached to them. If we treat material things without attachment -- have them or don't have them -- and don't create some dogma about avoiding them, then we're at the point of true detachment. The one who rejects material things is defining them as valuable and, hence, misses the whole point.

How much is your computer worth?

Jesus teaches that priorities is the issue. The fact that those BMW's are in the church parking lot should tell you something. Try adding up exactly how much money goes to help starving kids. A lot.
Besides, Jesus's emphasis on poverty, chastity and obedience are for full time church workers (priests, brothers, sisters), not for those of us with families and mortgages and bills.

The problem is rich people who are unwilling to give up their money thereby making it a god. You can be rich and still get into heaven as long as you are not greedy or unwilling to give up your money.
You have no surefire way of knowing if those bmw driving folks worship money or give it away so for now don't let their actions stress you, God will deal with it when the time comes. Live your life the best way you know how and you will be fine.

Jesus said 'Foxes have dens, and birds have nests, but I have no place to lay my head' (paraphrased).

Jesus knew human nature pretty well. The love of money and the sense of security that we attach to it, is at the root of all the evil in our lives....jealousy, envy, robbery, murders, political struggles.

I don't know many homeless christains; maybe I'll be one some day. Or maybe I'll be fantastically wealthy. Either way, I hope I'm always too busy loving to have alot of extra time to inspect other people's bank accounts. I'll be happy if I can just live my faith fully, (of course that includes sharing it too) ;)

Hoping the best for you...

Get it right. He said "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24).
He was saying money will not buy you a place in heaven.

I'm pretty sure he meant rich people that make their money into something of an idol.

If that is not what the Bible verses about rich people mean, then a lot of pastors are going to have difficulties getting into Heaven.

Its just some propganda the poor people made up as an excuse to stay poor and feel good about it in church. The drivers of the BMW's aren't in the church they just need a safe car park.

You are so full of $HIT. I go to a country church, there is not a single BMW parked in the lot. Mostly just Cadillacs and 1 Ton Chevy 4X4 diesels...pulling stinky stock trailers. You're such an idiot.
