Muhammad had other ideas. The current ideology in Islam is death to the infidels. All non-Muslims are infidels.

Simple, control. Fear of losing control. Islamic countries are exactly that. Their laws are derived directly from the Koran. Our laws here in the west used to be directly from the Bible and the Ten Commandments. In the 1950's, adultery was decriminalized and now you aren't charged with a crime for sleeping with someone other than your own spouse. This is why the Muslims hate the west, we call ourselves Christians (most of us, at least nominally) but allow people to commit sin with no penalty. In Iran, if you steal a loaf of bread and get caught, they cut off your hand. Here, they slap you on that hand, tell you not to do it again and you get community service work.
