As in, I know a parent who, to put it in terms the (then 4yo) kid could understand, taught him that there 'was a superhero up in the sky that takes care of us' without ever using the name 'God'. (In fact the first time the kid heard that name was from a schoolmate over a year later.) Now, I'm not particularly religious and haven't even told my own 4yo yet that there is a God. So I'm not downing the guy myself. I'm just curious if those more religious than myself find it to be 'wrong."

I would say either teach him the whole story or don't mention it at all. I don't see the point in a half *** explanation. Nobody likes that, regardless of age. Make a decision and run with it.

The superhero part is not wrong because God is a super hero. Not identifying Him as God is wrong in my opinion.

i think its a bit weird. Is this 'god' you speak of in the Marvel or DC universe?

If I had a kid, I wouldn't tell him that. But maybe that's just me.
