As far as I know Dicetel is the best for IBS-D. If you have IBS-C you can try Zelnorm.
Other than that all you can really do is watch your diet, manage your stress (its amazing what yoga or other exercise can do), and up your water intake.
Sorry I don't have a better answer. I understand what you're going through. Its a frustrating thing to deal with.

You should start to keep a food diary and try to figure out what foods bother you. Certain foods will irritated you more then others. I have Crohn's disease, which is like IBS, only worse. Before I was diagnosed I was being treated as if I had IBS and I lived on Imodium. Drink Aloe Vera juice and take Acidophilus, both are very good for your digestive system. Best of Luck to you.

Generally, the first line of therapy is anti-spasmodics, such as Bentyl or Levsin. Levsin can be placed under the tongue, and provides immediate relief. Unfortunately, these medications do not work for everyone. Second line medications, such as amitryptiline or nortryptiline do help, but usually take up to 6 weeks to take effect. Other measures for IBS, include increased fiber intake, and regular exercise. Finally, I would seek advice from a Gastroenterologist, who specialize in these disorders.

You need to try Peppermint Plus by Enzymatic Therapy. It has worked some miracles for many of the people I have recommended it to. Glutamine and probiotics are also very helpful. For an excellent discussion with lots of expert helpful advice see Digestive Wellness by Elizabeth Lipski which covers all kinds of problems with the GI tract and solutions for them.
Good luck and God bless!

You might want to try Bentyl, Donnatal, Levsin, or Zelnorm, they may help you. I listed a website that gives a list of these medications. If these don't help you, go to the doctor and ask them what they recommend.
