Let's be careful with these numbers, because much of the initial cost does not go into the solar panel alone, but in all the control and storage electronics that is also necessary to make it work.
If you know the total US energy consumption (and most is in industry and not in homes!), then use this thumb method:
You get about 0.1 Watt per Dollar, so 10 Grand would cover only 1000Watt (or roughly 110Volt and 10 Amp), and again, not including all the other costs for running such installation.

I don't think that homes would require even a amount of $10,000
worth of solar paneling, even $5,000 installed in the roof top would
probably heat your
home and eliminate
a heating bill,$10,000 worth of solar installation of panels would certainly make your
home energy(heat
wise) and other uses as well efficient.
