I help the homeless when God leads me to. There are situations when God tells me in my heart to help out a homeless person. It is not common for me because I know the usual people, but one time, as I was exiting the motorway after church one Sunday afternoon, a man was holding a sign saying that he was hungry and needed help. I had an overwhelming feeling that I needed to help this man out. My brother agreed and we gave him five dollars. The following Sunday, all the usual people were out there, but this man was not. I never found out what happened to that man. Makes me think about the possibility of that man being an angel or Christ and testing me to see if I would really help out.

I disagree. Life is hard, for the homeless and also for those of us fortunate enough to have a roof over our heads. Anything that removes a little suffering from the world is worth the trouble.

Maybe you can't help them; and that's surely not your fault. On the other hand, what if you can help yourself by helping them? -- or by taking in stray cats, or planting trees? You might be surprised by what works.

Many homeless are homeless because of mental and/or physical problems. I ask, why not help them? Maybe the dollar you hand out goes towards drugs, or maybe it goes towards a sandwich. Either way, you are halping rid someone of their pain, even if only temporarily.

I pray that you never become homeless. You just assume that everyone that is hom, eless prefers to be that way, but you are wrong. Go work with the homeless instead of cursing them.

true many homeless people don't want to work for a living, and prefer the streets to a nice cozy room, but we still have to keep trying for the ones who truly want help.

Many are mentally ill. That's a bit like asking why we should bother helping children or the elderly who don't bother to help themselves.

I think many of them are lazy and just want a handout. I think many of them, for some reason, just can't get into the mainstream and would be lost without help.
