Because the laws that apply to them DID NOT apply to your forefathers!

Because you are singling out people based on their place of birth, their heritage, their language... and because they are the easiest targets for to pick on... the most defenseless!

And because Dubya is doing the same thing Hitler started doing in order to get the country behind him... nationalist propaganda and slogans composed of lies and deceit. He has divided this nation with lies and deceit and by calling people "illegal" instead of dealing with the real issues of our economy... issues that the so-called "illegals" did NOT create but were created with the loss of jobs that went outside of the USA by those that get tax exemptions and tax breaks... the same super rich and powerful that do not pay their fair share of taxes, Dubya's cronies and Prick Cheney's cronies!

You only see "illegal" if they're from south of the border. You seem to forget, for example, that Americans appropriated lands from Mexicans (Texas, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, etc) so THEY were here first... oh, before you forget, Columbus reached the Americas (the "new world") under the Spanish flag...!

WHY does the small technicality of legality bother YOU when these immigration laws did not apply to YOUR forefathers?

Why aren't YOU in an uproar over Europeans, Canadians or others not from the south of the border that have likewise overstayed in the USA?

Unless you speak Spanish, why don't YOU go and apply for a job in any hospital or government office in Miami, Florida and see if you can get hired? THAT should be ILLEGAL!

What should also be ILLEGAL is how the super rich and powerful send jobs out of the USA (Dubya's cronies and Prick Cheney's cronies) where women are paid less then men, men are paid far less than our national minimum wages and children are forced to work long hours in inadequate working conditions for upwards of 14 hours a day (instead of being in school and playing like all children should) for a few dollars a day? WHY isn't THAT illegal?

It is a combination of two main factors. Some are individuals with a agenda. Some are just stupid. All country's protect their borders. Try to enter Mexico illegally, If you are a US citizen. See how well that goes. If you sneak past border security, you damn sure won't be there long. But, you are a "racist" because you have just pointed out what is the common sense truth. Truth is often unwelcome. Mexico encourages its citizens to cross the border, their northern border. It doesn't allow a soul past its Southern border.
You often hear this- This is a Nation of immigrants. Yes, but the difference is the immigrants who came , from all over, devoted their selves to AMERICA. They did it legally. They did not come waving German, Australian, or Russian flags. They learned our language. My parents bought a home from a migrant Russian Jew. A good man, who was a good American. He learned 5 words of English a day. He adopted America as his homeland. He did not wave a Russian flag on his property. He assimilated into American life.
If you are called racist for this, you can just about be certain the individual has a agenda, and it is not pro America.
I know many fine Mexican citizens. They are natural born citizens. You Mexican flag waving idiots, GO HOME. There is a agenda to take the southwest, by a certain number of Mexicans. These are the ones who want you to believe, that you are racist.

The intent is deny you freedom of speech, do not ever forget that because they are coming after your rights a little each and every day.

You are so right, but that has been the standard liberal retort since the mid 60's, you think they could come up with a new one after 40 years, and they call themselves liberal and progressive, what a joke.

"Racism" = "Anyone who Disagrees with Us"

You have to read this site, it is sad but really funny and right on the mark.

You aren't,you are a realist seeking answers to a huge problem here in our country.I not only question the illegal I actively fight against them.I do it thru my actions of calling ,E-mailing ,voting and campaigning against any legislation that can help them. They are illegal,it has nothing to do with race ,it has to do with blatant criminality.I live on the front line of the immigration problem from illegals,i live in Arizona .The impact on my city and states from the influx of hundreds of thousands of illegals pouring across our southern border is a catastrophic situation.
The people that support illegals have a vested interest they are a spouse, child, lover ,relative or friend. They need the illegal in a personal way ,so their views are biased totally.
I do not have hate for anyone,I do have a very serious complaint against any illegals coming into my state and demanding rights that they are not entitled to.Call me racists if that's your wish.I know who and what I am and your opinion is not important to me.

No amnesty
Deportation not legalization
Vote in NOvember
Let them hear you in Washington.

I think the racist card is thrown out there to try to miss-lead the subject, hide the problem and cause confusion. There is no realist way to call an illegal immigrant anything other than a criminal. In order to distract us from that fact, someone yells racist to change the subject.

Your not racist for that reason. Although some say you are.
Shark Patrol brings up a good point. Apes are know for intelligence. Facts are Facts.

But it does seem like
For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism

No, I don't think so. I wouldn't say I am racist, but I am against Illegal immigration. It's not fair that illegal immigrants get to use public things, for free. Because they are illegal, they don't pay taxes.

You aren't, but those who call you racist, for taking a stand against illegal aliens, are very RACIST.... Racists play the race card.... I give you Al Sharpton and Louis Freakakan as prime examples...

I don't think it's automatic in the minds of the real thinkers. It becomes "racist" only when the manner in which a question is presented is in the form of a prejudiced attack on the integrity of this forum, well at least, the few from mainstream America that are here, and that's very few. It appears as though the racist approach is used freely here. There are some very emotional and thin skinned people on both sides, and that, my friend, is a fact!
