We have an 11 yr. old boy. Should he be learning cooking, laundry, etc.?

His mother doesn't think he should have to, but his sisters should be learning these skills.

I have a boy and a girl - and I do teach our daughter the cleaning, cooking, homemaking skills to more detail - but at the same time, I've taught our son how to make his bed, run a washer and dryer, clean his own dishes, empty a dishwasher and he knows how to cook (simple and basic -- since that's all he's interested in) - as I want him to be prepared for his future and be a good husband

Yes of course... does his mother plan on cleaning up after him the rest of his life?? To start teaching responsibility early ensures it will stick when they move away... do consider you will want to some day retire the parent thing for grandparent...

my son is 9 and he washes his clothes, cleans his room, fixes his food(simple stuff), helps around the house and yard. I don't see anything wrong with it because he is learning responsibility. boys and girls should do things unless you plan on running behind them for the rest of your life cleaning, cooking, etc.

Yes, these skills will come in handy when he goes to college and moves out on his own.

Absolutely!! I think he should have just as many responsibilities as the girls. There is no reason why he can't cook and clean.

He shouldn't HAVE to, but it always helps to know those skills for life. Both girls AND boys, not just girls.

im 14 and i still havent learned any of that stuff yet but my mom is starting to teach me now

Yes! Absolutely. Others will respect you for teaching him those stuff when he grows up and on his own.
