my mum was killed in a car crash in 2000, and I became a Christian over a year later. I have no idea if my mum went to heaven, she was raised in a Christian family but never kept her parents beliefs when she left home. I struggled for a long time with this, I too thought that it wouldn't be heaven without her, and I also have a dad, brother and sister, numerous cousins etc who aren't Christians. But whether or not they go to heaven is entirely up to them and God, not me, we all have the freedom to make that choice when we are alive. I have made mine, I feel it would be wrong to reject the gift of eternal life just because my family did. (I actually had a very real experience of Jesus and couldn't deny His existance, which is why I became a Christian.) Having said that, I believe God when he says he doesn't intend that anyone should perish in Hell, so I have faith that he will be gracious to my family, whether that's for my sake or theirs I won't know until I get there.

No one can know such a thing except God. And yes I would go without them if necessary. That is something I can only choose for myself--they must make their own decisions. Interestingly enough, I am more worried about the Christians in my family than the ones who practice no religion. They have some pretty peculiar beliefs that don't sound like true Christainity, and they don't act very much like Jesus.

Maybe you could tell me this--If your whole family jumped off a cliff would you follow them?

My family, one by one, is being saved by faith in Jesus Christ.

However, a week before he died, my father was still an unbeliever. I realized at that point that I had done all I could do to be a good daughter to him, and tell him about the gospel. And I didn't do it in an obnoxious manner. I thought, if he decides to die without believing in Jesus, that is his choice and I will respect that. Would I still want to be in heaven? Of course, no question. I cannot choose for others.

However, God answered my prayers, as God does...and four days before he died my father said yes to Christ. So I will see him again.

I still have several family members who don't understand what it means to be born again. As with my father, I can only love them and tell them about Jesus; the decision is theirs.

The good book explains to us that we will know no sorrow nor will we know no regret. That we will know only happiness. Therefore, we should not worry about who is in heaven and is not. All you can do is pray for them in the here and now. Besides, I really don't think that you will know your wife, husband or children when you see them in the afterlife, nor any of your friends if you make to heaven.

yes, maybe it sounds heartless to you but this life is a wisp and eternity is forever. Everyone is given opportunity to accept the truth- it is a painful thought now but two things I know, first God will wipe away every tear, He will bring comfort and peace and second, God is God and I am not, who am I to question His ways and to correct the creator of the universe regarding His plan and His order?? I would not attempt to put my will, my plan, my throne above God's or even next to it- who am I but created from the dust of this earth compared to the very one who placed the stars in the heaven? I don't ever want to be guilty of that kind of arrogance .

I was an atheist from a family of atheists. I converted to Christianity. I tried to get my family to convert but they would not. I love my family and wish they would be in heaven with me. Even though I love them, I don't want to go to hell just to be with them.

I have made my choice and my family has made their choice. If I see them in heaven, super. If not, I would sure feel bad that they made the wrong decision.

Athiests are probably more honest, courteous and true because religious people all break the so-called ten commandments which makes you hypocrites, so in that respect athiests are more likely to end up in this heaven of yours than you are! Not that we want to be there mind!
