No. "Egal" means "I don't care" or "I'm not bothered".

The German word 'Regal' means 'shelf/cupboard' in English.
The word you're looking for is 'egal', to 'not care'/

Hope this helps ;-)

Hello -

Egal means "it does not matter", "not really important", "not important", "whatever", depending on who says it and the context.

"Ist mir egal" means "I don't care"
"Ach, egal" "oh well, doesn't matter".

Sometimes even means "don't worry".

It seems realted to "equal" (="gleich" in German), as you could also say "Ist mir egal"= "Ist mir gleich(-gueltig)". Basically, it is all the same...

It is quite versatile, a bit like "genau" which you may have encountered too.

Regal means shelves, shelf by the way.

Hope this is helpful.

Egal means "it's all the same to me". It's a word lifted from the French. You probably heard someone say "Das ist mir egal" ("it's all the same to me!" and thought that the r at the end of "mir" was the first letter of the next word.

egal is related to the word equal and means something along the lines of 'it's all the same to me' so it could be used to mean 'I don't care', I suppose.

' Es macht mir gar nichts aus.' means 'I dont care.' Literally it means 'It has no effect on me.'
