Singing is an inhereted behavior for birds. Like flying or nest building, the skill is instinctual to them. Since brids of the same species hae the same set of instincts, they sing the same way. It's an evolutionary advantage for them all to sound similar as it makes it quicker and easier to identify interloper species.
An aside, bird songs are not quite identical. Studies have shown that chicks can identify their mothers song, and that mates can recognize and track on their partners warblings.

Its how they attract a mate.........if a myna bird sang like a blue jay he would attract blue jays....wouldn't work too well would it?
