I can't help but get pissed off that they come here and have children, just for the purpose of making it easier to stay in the U.S. Not only are you "using" your child, but you're also creating one more mouth to feed, and one more person for U.S. citizens to pay for.

I can't figure out if the "cheap labor" we receive from illegals is really worth it.

I totally agree with you. I think our country should stop this whole idea of being born here to an ILLEGAL immigrant automatically makes the baby a U.S. citizen.
If the baby comes out of an ILLEGAL woman's vagina, it should be deemed ILLEGAL as well.
To stop all the "cheap" labor, companies should start receiving very hefty fines for each ILLEGAL they have working.
I must stress the ILLEGAL part because so many people forget that this is not just an immigration issue, rather an ILLEGAL Immigration issue.

Hey Colorado, good sense of humor.

Well, I think it is wrong to use kids as leverage in any situation.
I see so many people who have come across the desert pregnant and have gone into premature labor, or have lost their baby altogether. I knew one lady who didn't even appear to care, she was more worried about getting deported, since she had come so far here from Honduras. Others will hole up in shacks until the baby is born, living in total squalor. Some hop rail cars with other illegals and those rail cars get in the hundreds in temperature. Often there is no water. I am not saying I don't sympathize with wanting a better life for your kids-but kids are not leverage and if you really want to cross a desert and put your life in jeopardy, don't make that choice for your child too. I can't believe even one mother would condone this, it's not a jaunt in the park through there, people can and do die.

to start, I'm not discounting your opinion or feeling. not every undocumented person that comes here comes with the intention of having children to then stay here. many of the are from extremely poor communities and lack education. they are not educated on mean of birth control such as the pill, patch, shot, etc.
most Latin immigrants tend to be catholic which in turn means that a pregnancy...even unplanned is a blessing and can not be terminated.
as for the law regarding being born on US soil guaranteeing citizenship, if it were to be dismissed your stuck with EVERYONE being illegal. changes need to be made, YES but not all of them are evil as some depict them.

and the cheap labor...most of the jobs that undocumented take are the lowest of the low. if you are born here (or legally arrived here), have some form of formal education, and are crying about someone else getting the toilet scrubbing, machine operator, gardener job....what does that say about you??

"Cheap Labor" means real americans don't have jobs. So yes I think anchor-babies are a disgusting thing happening all over the U.S. I live in Houston and an article from TODAY's newspaper said 60-80% of ALL babies born in hospitals in my city are illegal mexican immigrant children. We actually have schools set up for and completely populated by them. MTV just launched a new channel aimed at Mexicans only, here in the U.S. We are losing billions of dollars a year from tax-payers pockets to feed this leech race. My High School used to be in the top ten in the country. Just last year we had one kid shot and killed in a drug deal by an illegal, another stabbed a kid in the stairwell. But hey that's the price you pay......for what really? Cheap labor doesn't cut it for me.

FYI, just because you have a baby here does not mean you can stay. Take it from me, I've seen a LOT of illegal parents with numerous US children get deported. Yes, the process takes a bit longer, because they can apply for adjustment of status based on hardship to the child. But the MAJORITY of "hardship" cases are rejected and families are deported. The exceptions are children who are really ill and need medical care (not just asthma, but something more serious like lukemia).

You should get in touch with my wife, she feels pretty much the same as you do. She is paying a heavy price for her strong stance onm this issue.
Anchor babies need to be legally redefined as to the legality of the parents if the parents are not American citizens or American nationals. The citizenship of a child should not determine the legal status of a parent.

I believe it is time to ammend that portion of the Constitution. Babies born on American soil that are in this country legally (ie parents here by visa)...

Just another great example of how things havent changed with the times.

they are the majority in Dallas county hospitals. Over 60% of births are to illegals, free of charge of course. They then take them to the rallies, where they demand their "rights" and chant that they are all Americans too.

It is so bad here, I am contemplating selling my house and trying to find somewhere left in the country that isnt over run, where people still speak english and expect others to do the same.

This is EXACTLY why we need to change the Law making anyone born here an automatic Citizen. Illegals are exploiting it on a regular basis. It's BS and needs to stop.
