In 1 bowl mix cornmeal, fresh ground pepper & garlic salt. In 2nd bowl, mix 1 egg, a dash of milk & a couple drops of hot sauce. Slice tomatoes medium/thick & dip in cornmeal mix, then egg mix & last dip back in cornmeal mix. Bake on cookie sheet in 350 deg oven for about 16 - 20 minutes turning once or twice with tongs or spatula. Serve hot with tomatoe chutney. Yummy!!!

Love fried green tomatoes. First I dip in some flour which is mixed with whatever spices you like. Then I dip in an egg mix,which is just an egg mixed with a little milk. Then I coat with bread crumbs . I fry in olive oil and butter. Make sure skillet is hot.but not smoking. Enjoy.

The trick is in the batter or coating. I like to use corn meal. Put two cups of corn meal in a dry pan. Salt the corn meal too taste. Add one egg; one large tablespoon of flour; some black pepper; one half cup of milk;

Slice the green tomatoes as thick as you want. I like them thin. Coat the sliced tomatoes and then deep fry them in peanut oil.

Hint.....eat them while they are hot.

I have always fried them just as I do yellow squash--breaded in cornmeal and sprinkled with salt and pepper. Don't put too many in the skillet so that they will get crispy without too much stirring.

I just slice them up, dust them with italian breadcrumbs, and fry in oil. Sometimes I put some parmesean(sp?) cheese in the breadcrumbs.

My father always made these. He would dip them in seasoned flour (salt, pepper, seasoning salt..or your fave seasoning) then dip in egg, back in flour and fry in canola oil.
