You need to build up your immune system. There is a most excellent set of chapters on health and immunity in the Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine by Murray and Pizzorno, and I commend them to you for your benefit.
In the meantime, take 1 gram of vitamin C with each meal, and a time release B 100 complex daily. Also take a high potency multiple vitamin and mineral supplement. Olive leaf extract may help suppress viruses; take as directed. That will be a good start. Good luck and God bless!

If you've had chickenpox(and you have) the virus remains in your body and will sometimes reappear as shingles. It has no relation to mono. However, the older you are, the more likely it is that you will get shingles. It is not fatal, even in the elderly. You may have mono again, but the only contribution that the shingles may have made is to have lowered your resistance. The common cold would have the same effect. So it's back to the doctor for you to find out if you actually have mono, or just tired from battling the shingles.

I have never heard that before but I do know that shingles and chicken pox are the same virus. If some one with chicken pox and went around the very young or elderly or some one with a weak immune system they can develope shingles. Also shingles in the elderly it can and usuaually is fatal.
