Is it by jewelry, dress, or just inner feelings? Its not like there's a "secret" handshake or anything - so how do they know who its safe to talk to?

"Safe to talk to" ? My, what an interesting choice of words.Does this imply that because of my religion, I am only allowed to speak to certain people about it?I certainly hope not. However, there is no "secret handshake," or style of dress or whatever.Often times, one will recognize another totally normal looking person who is wearing a pentacle, same way Xians wear a cross or crucifix to identify with their religion.I find those that go out of their way to flaunt their choice of religion are doing so to gain attention, and either don't take Wicca seriously(i.e. fluffy bunnies) or take it so seriously that one can possibly question their mental stability.

I'm a Pagan and I don't wear jewelry to promote any specific path of Paganism. Most though, do wear the jewelry. Sometimes their clothing will give it away... usually middle ages garb. Even Pagans who walk different paths have one thing in common, for the majority that is... we respect the fact we have differences and use those to better ourselves, instead of using them to cut each other down.

I don't guard my knowledge as secret. But dress and mannerism is usually a dead giveaway. I don't tend to trust jewelry too much (too many wanna be spell casters out there!).
But if you have been enlightened for a long time, you tend to be drawn to others of like.
But then again, I am wearing my black 'Wicked Witch' T-shirt today! LOL
Blessed Be...

I think most people who have advanced spiritual awareness, or are into "magic" and such, have a sense of who is safe and who isn't.

most of the time once you get to a certain "point" you can tell just by looking at them or looking in their eyes if they are ok to talk to about such things or not.

so I guess its just "inner feelings" you could say.
