I'm 35 and 4' 11". Have been this short since I was about 11ish too. My mum is just over 5' and so is my nan, although my nan on my dads side was about 5'6" or so. None of my female relatives are above 5'2" - my daughter is 5'2" at 18.However, almost all of the men are 5' 7" or over. So, I guess it's just genetic on the female gene. You've still got a few years growth left in you yet but even if you do remain short -remember - all the best things in life come in small packages!

Genetics is mysterious. Michael Jordan was 6'6" but no one else in his family was that tall. I was the oldest in my family but my younger sister was always a head taller than me. For years she was taller. I asked my mother if I was ever going to grow. I was always the second shortest in the classroom. And truth be known I was only taller than the shortest by an inch. My mother telling me that all her family was 6' did not assure me because it seemed that I never grew. Somewhere around 16 or 17 I had a growth spurt (I passed my sister) and then another when I was 21. My sister is around 5'3" and I arrived at 5'11". I spent most of my teen years thinking I would never grow. My Mom was right; I did finally grow. And it was quite a big spurt, then a smaller spurt.
Who can guess genetics and growth spurts?

For some people, that's the way it is. The reason might be that you are almost at a point where growth stops, or it's just in your DNA. But don't worry about it that much. I mean you are a girl, so being short doesn't necessarily mean bad. Besides, a lot of girls in our school are about your size, or only a bit taller.

Many factors can play into that, like how you grew up when you were younger and what types of vitamins you took in. It could also be a pituitary gland disease. I would ask a doctor because most girls stop growing right about 16 years old.

Probably the way the genes rolled down. It's just one of those things. There's nothing wrong about being short. It is easier to shorten pants than to lengthen them.

Dear Leah, play basketball, eat cheese, protein and pizza, take a multiVitamin everyday and there are some Homeopathic medications that are totally harmless and DEFINITELY help.
Swimming helps too.

You could have a low level of growth hormone. If you are really concerned about it you may want to go see your doctor and have them run a blood test for growth hormone.

Do you drink coffee? That stunts your growth. Also, an injury cause by something like sports may also cause you to be short.
