or how to hear?

Learning how to hear involves only the ability to perceive noise or sound. It doesn't imply knowledge or understanding of the sounds heard; eg., hearing the Chinese Mandarin language for the first time. Learning how to listen, however, is a tremendous skill to possess and a necessary requirement for positive, interpersonal relationships. Effective listening involves treating the other person with respect; having no hidden agenda; reflecting back to them the main content of their verbal message as well as their feelings; avoiding any blame or need to be right and them wrong; avoiding the need to problem-solve for them; showing them by your body language that you care about what they have to share with you; responding with genuineness and empathy;and responding nondefensively in the process of resolving conflict. Successful relationships involve good listening skills and a negotiated WIN-WIN situation for both parties! YES YOU SHOULD LEARN HOW TO LISTEN!!!

learning to effectively listen can be difficult, but worth the effort.Expressing our wants, feelings, thoughts and opinions clearly and effectively is only half of the communication process needed for interpersonal effectiveness. The other half is listening and understanding what others communicate to us.

To listen.

Listening is voluntary; hearing is biological/health-related function and to that extent involuntary.
