I want to go the Marines so I can pay for college tuition...but then I am not too sure if I want to join. I have very important people in my life. I'm engaged and my fiance is going to the airforce...is there anyway that I can find information on what happens in both the Airforce and the Marines and what are the conditions of joining and is there anything about couples that can see each other if they are either engaged or married.

If you both are planning separate careers in different services, then you need to seriously think about parting ways now before you try, and fail, to keep up a long distance romance.

Putting it another way IT NEVER WORKS OUT.!

Gomer Pyle is correct. However! Be advised that even if you marry within the same service, ie USAF/USAF or Marine/Marine, there is no guarantee you will be stationed together.

The spousal unit & I married in 1983 and retired in 2000/2001 respectively. In all that time only twice were we stationed within 50 nautical miles of each other.

We made it work but it's not easy.

(FYI; joining the Marines just to get college tuition is a really, really bad idea).

You should go talk to a recruiter.I'm also thinking about going to the Navy but i have 2 kids and a fiance but once your in your family can live on base with you. i just don't know how soon after. If you b/friend is in the air-force and your in the Marines you can't live on base together(different military) but you can try to find a base close together and live out side base in an apartment. They will give you money(check) and etc. Good luck!!

I think it's a poor decision to join just so you can pay your tuition. If your fiancee is enlisted, you can use his G.I. Bill once you're married to him. The conditions are obvious.. bootcamp is long and hard. Exercises and deployments always come up. There are good benefits to being in the military, but in your case I don't think you should.

If you're in two diffrent branches what dont work together you will not be stationed together. If i were you i'd join the USAF with your man. You will get better training for a career outside the military, and you'll be able to be together.

I'm a Marine by the way, good luck to you. SEMPER FI !!

Jus tot let you know, they are very easy to women, and most of the time you are never put in dangerous positions. You mainly spend time doing p.t and paper work. And if you do go to iraq you can be happy knowing you will probably be in an air conditioned room.
