your hips will probably always be a little wider because actual bone stretching occurs....... but you can get rid of any extra fat on them and on your tummy by doing yoga.......especially Ashtanga or Bikram......

FIR STARTERS CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE BEGINNING ANY EXERCISE. SOMETIMES THE BODY JUST ISN'T READY. BUT A GREAT TUMMY FLATTENER IS A COMBINED EFFORT ON YOUR PART. THERE ARE SEVERAL EXERCISES THAT WILL HELP.
FIRST THERE IS BREATHING, HOLDING IN THE LOWER ABDOMEN ANE USING THE FULL CAPACITY OF YOUR LUNGS IS IMPORTANT. BY HOLDING IN THE ABDOMEN YOU ARE USING MUSCLES THAT HAVE BEEN STRETCHED. IT ALSO FORCES YOU TO USE YOUR LUNGS TO THEIR FULLEST.
SECOND, TRY A REVERSED SIT -UP ::: THIS IS DONE BY SITTING ON THE FLOOR WITH YOUR KNEES BENT AND YOUR FEET SNUG UNDER A COUCH OR HEAVY CHAIR. DO NOT LAY BACK, INSTEAD PLACE YOUR HANDS ON YOUR STOMACH AND LEAN BACK UNTIL YOUR FEEL A BIT OF A TIGHTENING IN THE ABDOMNE. HOLD TO A COUNT OF 5 THEN SIT BACK UP. DO NOT OVER STRAIN, JUST FAR ENOUGH TO FEEL THE STRAIN. START GOING FARTHER BACK OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. START WITH 10 A DAY, WORK UP TO 50 AS YOU WORK TOWARD GOING HALF WAY BACK TO A LYING POSITION. THIS WILL HELP TO FLATTEN THE TUMMY.
THIRD, GET DOWN IN A KNEELING POSITION. KEEP THIGHS STRAIGHT AND BODY RIGID. LEAN BACK KEEPING IN A STRAIGHT POSITION. LEAN BACK UNTIL YOU FELL THE PULL IN YOUR THIGHS, HOLD FOR A COUNT OF FIVE. RETURN TO START AND REPEAT 20 TIMES. WORK UP TO 50 DAILY.
THESE TWO EXERCISES SHOULD HELP TO REDUCE THE TUMMY AND HIPS.
ALSO CUT AS MUCH FAT FROM YOUR DIET AS POSSIBLE AND CUT THE SALT. THESE TWO THINGS SHOULD HELP ALOT. GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS ON BECOMING A MOM.

I have a friend who says that wearing a girdle after having a baby helps you get back in the habit of standing up straight and holding your tummy in again.

Pilates, if done 3-5 times a week will take even less time than that.
