I had a Touran 1.9TDI SE for a days test drive & it felt totally family orientated - no surprise there. Lots of plastics inside, didn't give me the quality feeling I was after. I ended up with one of the new Passats, a 2.0 TDI Sport. My wife has a Passat TDI 130 estate & I like the performance of her 1.9 better than my 2.0 - strange I know but there you go. Same 2.0 engine in mine & I've done 34000 miles in 7 months without problems, one service so far & another one fairly soon I suspect. Try the 1.9 105hp S/SE as well, there's a big financial saving over the 2.0 SE. I did like the higher up driving position, & its a more relaxing drive as for some reason I feel I have to drive the Passat hard. Also can't get near the economy of the 1.9 with the 2.0, the official figures don't seem to reflect the real world driving, the 2.0 generally gives at least 5 mpg less, ok if you do average mileage but adds up if you do higher miles.

Great choice. Travelled in one and was very impressed. Owner also appreciates its quality, performance, etc. etc.

Go for it and enjoy.
