Don't do it. Could damage it. Buy a bottle of the original green Prell and use it every day. After a few days, the color may look lighter. Prell is known to be a haircolor stripper.

I do hair for a living. If your hair is DARK and you put LIGHT over it, NO, it won't work. The reason is you can't go lift/lighten color with color. If your hair is light, you CAN go dark but not the other way around. The sucky thing about dying your hair yourself is that sometimes when you buy a dark brown, it turns black. It's because you don't put it on fast enough and it changes due to the oxidation of the color. Try washing your hair with dishwashing detergent a few times. It's supposed to help take some of the color out. If not, you'll have to lighten your hair w/bleach and then do it lighter. Please go to a professional. Boxed color is considerated metallic and putting bleach on it yourself will break your hair since boxed hair color is so strong. A hair dresser will need to strip the color and then dye it for you. Call around and try to get a product called Rusk Color Elimin8. It's awesome and won't damage your hair. A professional will need to do it for you, though.

You cannot dye nearly black hair lighter brown without first putting a hair lightener on it . Either go to a hairdresser to get it lightened or wait until the dark colour washes out and the dye it another colour.

In a word, no. It will wreck your hair. The one you have put on may look dark now but trust me being a shade or two darker than you like will be better than having hair that is so broken and weak it falls out. The only way you will lighten this colour is to bleach it out, which may leave you with patchy colour and severely damaged hair. There is also the worry of it going ginger. The colour you have will fade and you will get used to it. It's definitely better than having ruined hair anyway.

Light brown won't lift the colour. The best thing to do is wash your hair with a strong deep cleansing shampoo every day, leave the shampoo on for 5-10min before rinsing. The colour will soon fade.

No, artificial color needs to be removed. I would still keep going with washing and letting it fade out over time. You can also try a cocktail shampoo. You have to very quick. Mix up some bleach and add some shampoo. Wet your hair and shampoo with it, don't rub the scalp though. leave it for a minute and rinse and shampoo normally.

You used to be able to buy pre-lightener which I believe was a kind of bleach to strip the colour from the hair and then die it the colour you want.

NO! it will not work, color does not remove color. Semi perm. coats the hair, you will need to let fade as much as possible before doing anything. Try using dish detergent to get it to fade and a good conditioner
