can you kill a kid if it comes onto your property? What you can do though is call animal control and they will come get the dog for you. The owner will then have to come get the dog and pay a citation for letting the dog run the street, which is illegal.It is also illegal to kill any animal on your property, and to say that you were outside and the dog tried to attack is not plausible. After all why would you be hanging out outside with a weapon? If the dog is a menace to the neighborhood, aka the dog is actually aggressive, you can even call 911 for something like that. If this dog is aggressive the police have the authorization to shoot it. If you shoot the dog, you can sustain animal cruelty charges that are accompanied by fines and/or imprisonment. I am on your side in the fact that any responsible pet owner, of any breed of dog, would not allow their animal to run the street. This person probably doesnt even deserve the right to own a dog. If you do this the right way, the owners of the dog could possibly be required (by a court) not to own a dog in the future.

I'm not sure if this law applies everywhere or just the state I live in, but the law states that you can't kill a dog unless it is attacking or has attacked a human being or livestock. For example you can't kill a dog just because it comes on your property, and you can't even kill a dog if it's attacking your dog (though I'm sure if that were the case no judge in their right mind would rule in the other guys favor, you were protecting your dog! But even if the other guy did win he'd only be able to sue for what the dog was worth, and if he can't prove how much he paid for the dog he probably won't get anything). I hope that you don't kill this dog just because it comes on your property. Of course, if it has attacked people before that's a whole different story.

would you kill a poodle if it came on your property? If you seen a bunny on your property would you kill it? You need to call animal control if you think the animal is going to harm someone... Maybe the dog is just lost... how would you feel if someone shot your dog if it got loose by accident? any dog or animal for that fact can be mean
just because it is a pit bull doesn't mean you have to kill it...

No! There are laws protecting animals. If it belongs to someone....talk to the owners about not letting their dog run loose. If they won't listen or if this dog is a stray, then call the local humane society to come and catch it. Why would you want to kill a dog!??

No, it is a felony to kill any animal just for coming on your property. The ONLY way you are legally able to kill an animal is if it is attacking you, another person, or one of your pets and there is no other way to stop the attack. You are not legally allowed to kill the dog after the attack is over either. You MUST contact animal control.
You need to contact your cities animal control department, or police department and let them know that their is a Pitbull on the loose if you do not know who it belongs to. If you know who it belongs to then you need to tell them that their Pit is loose and you are going to call animal control on them. As it is illegal for them to let the dog roam freely.

Most likely but why would you. Do you know how guilt feels? Why dont you call animal control if its just on your property and not trying to attack anyone at the moment.

If it is a non aggressive dog why would you? Just because you think its a pitbull? Or because you're just cruel in general? Call the animal control to report the loose dog they will handle it for you!

Where did that piece of hogwash come from !!!!!!

The laws will differ from community to community, so you would need to consult the local authorities, because only they can give you an accurate answer.

I can only tell you what the law is here;
"Because the county is a ranching comunity, any dog which threatens or harasses livestock, or a person may be destroyed". The law does not say anything about simple trespassing, so you would be on your own.
