Have you tried the brand "Tom's of Maine"? It's available in any health food store, and I've also seen it in Target recently... it's got more "natural" ingredients.

It depends upon which of the ingredients you consider poisonous. The act of properly brushing and flossing your teeth, even without toothpaste will remove the harmful plaque which affects your teeth and gums. Therapeutic agents such as fluoride, anti-plaque and anti-calculus agents are added for those areas that you miss, but theoretically if you brush and floss perfectly you may not need to use toothpaste.

There are some toothpastes (usually made for kids) that are free of ingrediants that could be harmful or at least have smaller amounts of them. Just look around whereever you buy your toothpaste and see if you can find any toothpastes like these.

I use Organic Dentifrice. This natural alternative is without a lot of additives or artificial sweeteners.
You won't find any statements of warning on this product.
Hope this is useful and for the website, feel free to contact me.

Yeah, baking soda.
I read a mettalurgy textbook that said something to the effect of, "the waste flouride is put in drinking water as the human body is the best and cheapest source for breaking down the flouride and returning it to the environment."
Seriously, dude!

I think I'll take my chances. I don't want my teeth to look like ancient aztec ruins.
