Why don't you try something small like a shar pei or a pug or something of the sort. Its cute and cuddly and you can basically take it anywhere with you. They have really cute clothes you can buy for them too.

It depends. Do you have a backyard? What size is it? Does the English Bulldog get along with other dogs? How much time can you honestly devote to it? Can you walk it every hour or more? Will there be anyone home to take care of it throughout the day? Are you willing to take it out even in the middle of the night? How much space will the dog have inside? Do you have room for a big dog or a small dog?

All of these questions are important to go over with you dad. If everything is okay, go ahead and get a dog! Here are some of my recommended breeds.

Small dogs: West Highland Terrier - high-energy, very small, tends to bark
Italian Miniature Greyhounds - very very small, low-high energy
Miniature Schnauzer - small, low-high energy, tends to bark, not great with other dogs, but can be very sweet

Medium dogs: Sheltie - high-energy, tends to bark
Soft-Coated Wheaton Terrier - medium-high energy, hypoallergenic, great with other dogs
Whippet - low-high energy, very quiet

Large dogs: Golden Retriever - low-high energy, very very very sweet, fairly quiet, easy to train, needs a lot of attention
Saint Bernard - low-medium energy, drools a lot!
Newfoundland - low-high energy, loves the water, fairly quiet

Try a Lab or Retriever, smaller dogs tend to be more aggressive (not always but more so than bigger) and may not be a good choice for the young.

I have a golden retriever for my grandson and he is 12, they are great companions for everyone including teenagers. They love to be walked, ran, they will sleep with you and be a best friend forever.

Im thirteen, too.
I got a chihuahua cause our german shephard loves my dad more. Get a minature something, because they're way easier to walk. Just make sure you're the one to feed her/him and play with her/him, and she will love you more. trust me!
