To directly answer your question, while eating excessive amounts of candy and sugar is not healthy for anyone for a number of reasons (high calorie intake, dental health, etc), you will probably not get Diabetes just from eating a lot of sugar. Cutting down on your candy intake might help you to stay at a healthy weight and keep your teeth healthy though. Since you enjoy candy so much, you may want to try to curb this behavior by eating healthier foods as substitutes like fresh vegetables and fruits.
Here is some basic information on Diabetes so that you can understand the disease better:
In a healthy person, the pancreas produces insulin. Insulin is needed so that sugar can enter the cells to act as fuel for the body. Type I Diabetes occurs when the pancreas does not produce insulin. Type II Diabetes occurs more frequently, and is caused by the body not producing enough insulin, or the cells ignoring the insulin, therefore not allowing sugar to access the cells and energize the body. Diabetes affects people of all ages and ethnicities. Those people who have a familial history of Diabetes have a higher risk of becoming Diabetic. Other risks include obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and a high fat/high sugar diet. While there are many signs and symptoms of Diabetes, many people do not recognize them or think that they are serious, and may have to get very sick before they get diagnosed and treated.
Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes
excessive urination
unexplained weight loss intense thirst and hunger
severe fatigue
Being diagnosed with Diabetes is not a death sentence, with some basic lifestyle changes, and compliancy with medical recommendations, Diabetics can live happy and long lives. If you are concerned about Diabetes, are having any of the above symptoms or to get tested for Diabetes call your healthcare provider. Also check out the American Diabetes Association's website.

No. Increased consumption of sugar does NOT put one at risk for diabetes. Now, if that sugar leads to weight gain, lack of exercise, and is coupled w/ family history of diabetes, then in a round about way, yes, it could.
But sugar in and of itself does not "cause" diabetes
NO NO NO NO and NO
Diabetes is genetic
Both Type one and Type two diabetes are genetic.
It is NOT repeat NOT caused by eating too much sugar, no matter what some of the morons here have written.
Don't believe them! This is popularly believed, but is totally untrue.
The disease can be made worse by eating sugar or carbohydrate, but certainly not caused that way

My husband is diabetic under reasonable control.
You seem like you eat a lot of sugar, although you certainly are not overweight as most diabetics are. But I have met thin diabetics. Is there diabetes in your family? Has your Dr. said the hep c. could cause the sugar craving?
Being tested would solve the problem. This illness used to be rare. But now it is ridiculous.
Of course I have a theory that the preservatives and growth hormones and additives in all of our food is the cause of a great deal of this illness and the weight problems in America.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.
