Hello everyone! I am a mother of 2, and currently a stay at home mom. I have many friends who are parents as well. I have noticed that its pretty easy to find a daycare/babysitter/etc on the weekdays. But most of them close around 6 pm, and most arent open on the weekends.
I was thinking of starting an in-home daycare for night time (overnight as well) hours and for the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).
If you are a parent, have you had a difficult time finding a babysitter for night time hours and weekends?
Dont worry, i am licencsed and will have help from other parents...lol.
Thank you all for your opinions!

Depending on the number of night jobs in your area there may be a need for something like that. Weekend days and nights are probably much more needed but won't give you any free time. Also, school holidays and breaks because the local day cares get full fast and are really expensive for those short times. A good way to make Holiday money though. Definitely check into babysitting for parents who want to Christmas shop. So much easier on the parent. Would be a good thing to advertise. Best of Luck!!

I thought about doing that before because we have several Tribal casinos here in Washington state that are open all night and a lot of the people that work there have kids. Many single parents I know would rather work nights so they can take their kids to school, pick them up or attend parent/teacher conferences without having to take time off. You can advertise on craigslist. Most major cities, and the outlining areas have listings. I found a nanny job on there so I could still bring in money and not have to put my son in day care.

I, personally, would love to see more daycares like this! But have you considered how it will affect your home and social life? If you are married, how does your hubby feel about it? How would your kids deal with having all the extra kids around? Just some things to think about- I'm sure you already have!
Another kind of daycare that is lacking around here is a home-based daycare that will take your kids to school, or stick them on the bus, and then pick them up or get them off the bus. I luckily have someone who does that, but she's in highdemand!!
Good luck to you :)

A night time baby sitter would be great! Especially for those parents who work either the swing shift, or graveyard, or parents who can't find a sitter and just want a night out. I don't seem to have a problem because Grandma is usually willing to take the kids. I lucked out in that aspect, but there was a time when I worked swing shift and would have benefited from a night sitter big time.
Good luck to you, I hope it works out!! =D

My sister does this same service for parents who need night and weekend care. There are just 2 right now from different family's. They are not there every night or every weekend day. She is was a bus driver and a 911 operator before she delivered her twin boys and decided to do this. She has a reputation built around her and is very trustworthy.

Sitters are very hard to find for off shifts and weekends. You should not have any problem getting children to watch and you can charge a higher rate.
Do you really want to watch someone else's kids all hours of the day and night? Once you agree to it you are pretty much stuck doing it.

I've actually heard of that type of thing in Las Vegas - for parents who work nights in the casino's/shows/etc. I guess if there is a large enough market for it, it can be profitable for you.
I know that I wouldn't be comfortable leaving my child overnight at a stranger's house, whether they were licensed or not. As far as afterhours babysitting, that might be convenient, but I would imagine that it would be inconvenient for you - since you might have people coming and going from your house at all hours of the night.

sweetie, I think that would be a great thing to do if u are u to the challenge.Day cares are hard enough to operate during the day but to do it at night. Will be more of a challenge cause some kids even babies have hard time sleeping in different surroundings at specially at first. But if u are willing to though it out unless till your regular clients get settled then u Will be doing a great favor to all of us parents out there that need those weekend and night day cares.

I think its a great idea. There have been plenty of times when we needed a babysitter from 6 till 11pm.You probably could charge a little more for the over night service.
