I can only tell you what worked for me.

I was in a deep suicidal depression for 7 years.

Last December my family Dr. took a thyroid test and found my thyroid was low. In 30 days on the pills it was GONE...Hallelujah

I still physically feel like Cr*p most of the time as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. But I am not depressed any more and boy am I a happy person.

Make an appointment with your family doctor for a full physical exam. Get some routine blood work done and talk to him/her about this. Exercise, reading, hobbies, (dog) walking and keeping active physically as well as mentally are things that you can also do to help you. Dealing with some problems may also help. Sometimes we think we've dealt with something and later or never realize that it's eating us up on the inside. Remember, you should only stress about the things you can control. If it's not within your control, energy spent stressing about it is wasted. If you've recently gone through something life altering give yourself time to heal. We tend to be hardest on ourselves, so when your thinking negatively ask yourself , if my best friend was sharing this with me would I be that hard on him/her? What would I say to them? Be kind to yourself, you're a good person and gosh-darn it you deserve it. Go see your G.P. and let him/her help you through your dark phase. They'll have many options for you. The best of luck.

Hey hunny! i'm depressed too but you can get back to normal! you need to find the thing that gets you in the situation ure in and try and pin point it-eventually stop it but easier said than done!. I have taken 3 overdose's and hurt myself many a time in the past due to many childhud incidents and i think the final draw kinda blows things out of proportion! a lil example recently i found out i have to have an operation that will restrict me from my dancing which is my life my carrier my everything!I said for a little while well a long while! personally when i drink i get lots worse and wind up loseing people i care about which i personnally used to blame but i guess i could get too much at times, you wind up needin them! you know what made me feel like smiling the other day, not in a sick way it reallly upset me but i watched this program with this beautifull little girl who had a disease that was gradually turning her muscles and tendons to bone and she was so positive and it made me think how lucky i am! even in the worst senarios i have my health and i'm stupid to try and end that! ive just come off my antidepressants and am getting used to it! for me they just made me sleep better end now i lie awake for hours thinking but i do sleep eventually and i beleve i'll get better! ive had phyciatrists but i'm an actress so never aloud them to do their work because i have a tendency to make it all humorouse but anyhow u'll be fine stay happy if you neend to talk ask another question and i'll try to reply! take care you X if you feel like it contact me at shineysian@hotmail.co.uk or call on 07850886450 take care im good to chat ny time!

I have battled the same condition. I never sought professional help, although perhaps I should have. Please, don't rule our going to a medical professional for help. But if you don't, let me share one small thing with you. A friend told me something that helped a lot about ten years ago: Get through the next half hour.

That sounds simplistic, but it made me realize not to worry into the future, as I always seem(ed) to. Things have a way of sorting themselves out, in a not too awful way. If you are inclined to be depressed, you may not belive that, but it's true.

the shortest verse in the bible:
Luke 11:35 Jesus wept.

written five centuries Before Christ (From the Hebrew Torah)
Isaiah 61:1-3
1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn

Jesus did all this, and even He wept. He's a person who's no less real than me, and he said
leviticus 26:11 "I will place My residence among you, and I will not reject you."
and
matthew 11:28
"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest."
Go ahead, close your eyes and ask Him to show you His love. pick up a bible.
He helped me when I was coming off of meth and crack...

see your dr. for anti depressants is the obvious answer... short of that, take a walk. run a little inbetween. exercise. it releases dopamine, happy chemicals. it releases toxins in the body. drink lots of water and herb tea to release toxins. watch funny movies... look up joke sites on the internet. Laughter can help a little, but seeing the DR is key too. peace be with you, you are not alone.
I sometiimes lay on couch all day long and just stare at tv, (I'm 48) because I'm depressed, my husband died 7 months ago, my cat is missing, my mom died 9 months ago, and my boys want so much from me. Maybe I should see a Dr?

Exercise, it keeps your mind and body healthy. While exercising your body releases chemicals that make you feel better and full of energy.
If you go to a therapist it will cost a lot of money and they will prescribe drugs. That is not good you don't need drugs to stay healthy.
Try to engage on activities that you enjoy, or start a new Hobie. something exiting!

good luck.

See a therpist and stay off the computer for one, go outside and do something you like to do. Go to a library, see a funny movie, hang out with some friends, just stay out of the house.
