the bible is plain. It teaches that there is one God, not a trinity. It teaches that salvation comes through repentance, water baptism in Jesus' Name, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. I do not know why people come up with all kinds of interpretations that are not supported by the plain and simple writings contained in scripture.

The problem is, some parts of the Bible is not a simple set of rules. For instance, there are two different ways in which Eve is created in Genesis (along with Adam, then later, when Adam feels lonely). If the Bible plainly says what it means, then which is it? Or are these two versions, giving you the gist of it (i.e. it's not a literal account, but an allegory?)
This is important because many people are using the Bible as a set of rules not only for themselves, but for the rest of us, too. Homosexuality is bad while eating shrimp isn't, although they're both condemned in the Bible. Working on a Sunday is punishable by death in some parts, but we clearly don't do that anymore.
I think that if you believe you're reading the Bible literally, and understanding its meaning as God intended, you're actually just recieving another man's interpretation.

many people make something different out of the bible because that is the way they interpret it. I know that there are many different bibles, and i believe it is because some people don't like what the bible is trying t tell them so they rewrite it to fit their personal beliefs, and i agree with you about what will happen to people who change what the bible plainly says.
The King James Version is the only Bible that closely resembles the accutual written bible and it states a warning to all who add unto or take away from the writings of this book

Good question. I had a discussion on this topic a few days ago with coworkers. Basically, I have observed that when different denominations morph into a centralized hierarchical structure, they begin to create rules. Soon these man-made rules begin to encroach upon or, in certain cases, supersede scripture. The Catholic church is the most visible example but only because it's been around for so long. The same thing can be seen in other sects such as Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Lutherans. When you develop a hierarchy then people, consciously or unconsciously, crave power and power corrupts.

Aratyme's answers are way too long. Why do people
do what they do is a sixty-four dollar question, isn't it?
No one should change the Word of God. If they don't
understand the meaning of some phrase, then they
should ask a Bible scholar, pastor, or a regular reader
of the Bible who has discernment on Bible meanings.

Correct. There is a warning at the end of Revelation to people like that. Additions will add to the fires of hell for any such author, and omissions will result in the loss of Heavenly reward to 'editors' who don't like the Bible as it stands.

Because they need something that will substantiate their idiotic ideals and rantings -- so they turn to the Bible -- the ultimate authority. They dig through it till they find a sentence or two that they can twist and turn to serve their purpose and then they point to that small part of the Word and say, "See! Even the Bible says I'm right." and then they expect us to bow down before their ignorance and agree with their stupidity.

You are really right I couldn't agree with you more.
It seems so plain and simple to me.
When Adam sinned he plainly said: "For dust you are and to dust you will return."
Eccl. 9:5 says: The living are conscience that they will die but the dead are conscience of nothing at all.
How can you take that any other way?
Some people have us floating around out there somewhere calling it a mystery.

Of whom do you speak, King James when he commissioned his VERSION of the Bible, how about Evangelicals, who think the Bible was written in English, or how about the Mormons, who believe the word of God was revealed on gold tablets no one has ever seen, or maybe better yet, the televangelists and how they proclaim that God needs money. Tell me, which one because last I checked, Gods' word as you call it was written by MEN in Hebrew and Aramaic. So please, enlighten me.

Well said.
If we are going to call ourselves Bible-believers, then we need to be just that.
God doesn't need us to re-phrase His words. We must change ourselves to fit the Bible : Not the other way around.
