Styes are an infection; you'll need to get some antibiotics from a dr's office or emergency room.

Holding a hot wet washrag to the eye will provide some relief from the pain. Remember that styes are contagious, particularly if there are small children in the house. Wash the washrag in hot water and bleach after every use, don't let any one touch it, and scrub the bathroom sink as well as your hands after doing it.

If at all possible, stay home until the stye goes down.

use a warm/hot teabag. , make a cuppa tea , take the used teabag and lay it over the eye, drink the tea and relax :) the tea contains tannic acid which helps lessen the sty. - thats what my momma taught me and its always worked.
