He knew the nature of Abraham...I think Abraham needed that experience more than God did.

well (first off good question) you know how you think of things you could stand up to and take and never regret? I'm sure Abraham thought of those too. but as they say "talk is cheap" so when God did this then He knew that Abraham wouldn't kill his son. but Abraham knew that even if he did kill his son then God would bring that son back, because Isac was promised to inherit the land not only by his father but by God, and God keeps His promises, so if he had killed Isac (which he was about to do) then then he knew in his heart that God would bring him back no matter what it took. so this was all for Abraham. he needed to build his faith a little more and he did.

God of course knew Abraham would "pass" the test.... Ultimately, the test was in the best interest of Abraham proving himself faithful that he truly would perfectly obey the command of the Lord.

You are wrong, Abraham did not know, for he was about to so as God ordered and God stopped him he was testing Abraham's faith in Him. And this is a parallel to God giving us mortals His only begotten son only He did not stop the people from persecuting Him and Jesus knew that what was promised must be done, so Jesus knew what was going to happen to him because He knew He was the Son of Man.

Abraham did not know.
Yes, a point needed to be proved. Abraham was not going make his son an idol over God. THEN God spared his son.

Abraham did not know that God would save his son. God wanted him to prove his faith. Abraham thought he was to sacrifice a sheep or goat. Maybe god knows our thoughts but our heart and actions are different.

The Bible says nothing about God not preventing Abraham from sacrificing Isaac, or Abraham have some foreknowledge about God providing another sacrifice. You are reading things into scripture that are not there. God was testing Abraham's faith, but if Abraham had insisted upon killing Isaac, God would not have stopped him.

When God tested Abraham, it wasn't that God didn't knew Abraham. God wanted Abraham to know who God is, in and through his life. So because of Abraham's faith it was imputed to him for righteousness. It's the same when God tests any of His children, it is not for God's knowledge but for us to know who our God really is who He says He is.

Good question...I think that Abraham was the one who needed proof, and God gave it to him. God always knew that Abraham tended to doubt, and God used this to make the point to Abraham himself.

God knew what Abraham would do, but Abraham certainly was being tested. He was not all knowing. He was obedient to his God and was willing to sacrifice his son. There is a lesson here for us, not for God. God knows all and does not require tests or lessons to progress. We as lesser beings do.
