If I've had a hard day I have a couple things that work for me. First is a good power walk. I can sort things out in my head and by the time I get back home it's all worked out in my mind and I've worked off all the pent up emotions so I'm relieved and relaxed. If I can't hit the pavement then I grab a notebook and do all my b*tching on paper. I end up feeling much better when I'm done. Or sometimes I put in a CD that's mellow, lay on the bed and zone out for a good half hour. I may even catch a cat nap if I get relaxed enough.

Stay away from drugs, alcohol, and sex.....these can make you stressed!
I like these things:
pray
light candles and take a hot bubble bath
take a nap
watch a funny movie (alone or with a friend)
call a friend
take a walk

I find a nice warm bubble bath and soak in the tub, with soft music and dim lighting or candle light helps me the most. Especially after a hard stressful day at work.

A nice warm bath with scented candles. Play some smooth jazz for background music, and just enjoy all the sensations.

Yoga , Meditation
Pranayama is a good method too ..I practise it and it has helped a lot ...

These are all traditional Indian methods but helpful to circumvent most of the life-style related problems

Eating a bunch of my favorite foods while watching my favorite TV shows.........and then falling asleep from being so full.

That's what I always do.
It blocks everything out.

A full body massage or a lovely long soak in the bath.

I for one, prefer the methods that you don't want to use :-)
