Of course it does, so does Santa Clause, Unicorns, and sex with playboy playmates.

Assuming that a mythical "god" and "heaven" exist, no. They don't appeal.

Ever heard the phrase, "The chase is better than the catch"? Trying to live my life to the fullest every day, acquiring knowledge, trying to write a book, opening children's minds (I'm a teacher), etc. makes every day worthwhile, even the bad days. Life is an attempt to accomplish a lot of things before the clock runs out. That's exciting.

Yours and other theists lives are nothing but a matter of earning brownie points and killing time, and that's abhorrent to me. Nothingness is preferable to a tedious eternity of listening to an egomaniacal "god" being praised by a bunch of psychopathic sycophants. I may not be around to see the effects of my life or aware of existence when I'm gone, but I least I'll leave a mark, which is more than can be said for most godbots.

The only think that sucks about there being no afterlife is that I won't get to say "I told you so" to religious people like you.

Heaven, as it was explained to me by my church, holds no appeal to me. I see the value of my existence coming from contrasts; good and bad, sweet and sour, light and dark...life and death. Without these contrasts, life itself would hold very little meaning. Then there's the problem of living for eternity. What would be the point in that? The value? I enjoy life because there is always something new to experience; something new to learn. There are challenges to overcome.

The concept of an afterlife does hold a certain amount of superficial appeal. So does the concept of a fat man in a red suit living at the North Pole with little elves making toys for all the good children of the world. However, I have come to learn that just because I desire something to be doesn't make it so. Just as there's no evidence of Santa Claus and his elves in the artic, so is there a complete lack of evidence of there being an afterlife. Therefore, I see no point in trying to delude myself into believing in it, and again the concept loses its appeal.

Depends... The heaven of which religion? Each one describes a different heaven. Some sound appealing. Others do not.

I have thought about heaven and sometimes it does not really sound appealing to me. There are supposedly (depending on who you talk to) no gays, no alcohol, no animals, and just people who think the same way. All you do is set around and praise god in song and action. The roads are paved in gold. I really hate gold and the other things that I mentioned do not sound good so not really.

All of the descriptions of heaven that I have ever heard from Christian friends, former pastors and the like hold absolutely *NO* appeal for me at all.

To me "heaven" is like the Land of Oz. It is a fictional place. Imagining it the way the "Bible" says is wonderful, but that is all it is, imaginary, just like Oz. Follow the yellow brick road if you want, but I choose a different path to my Creator on the other side.

Not in the least. Maybe if Jehovah got himself a beer volcano and stripper factory like the Pastafarians, I'd be interested, but frankly the idea of spending eternity worshiping Moses invisible friend has absolutely no appeal to me.

No, heaven doesn't appeal to me. Am already living and I look back on everything that I have done and I live with regret for what I have done. I don't want to live on for century's afterwards in a place where I can think even more on what has happened. It just doesn't have any interest in me. Once I die, I WANT to stay dead.
