If the Bible says that it's the word of God and that every word of it is true and perfect, then what is moderate Christianity? Does it mean that you only think the Bible is partially true or that your soul is only partially going to heaven when you die? The Bible says that it's all true, so in order to be a Christian, you have to believe every word. If you don't believe some of it, then you are not a Christian. Moderates are not Christians. Only what we think of as radicals (the guys with the signs that say "God hates gays") are real Christians. This goes for Muslims as well. It's all or nothing folks. You can't sit on the fence. So if you want to ACTUALLY go to heaven, you need to kill your neighbor for not keeping the Sabbath.

There is no such thing as a "moderate" Christian. Sadly, so many believe that they can pick and choose from the Bible to believe what they feel is right. No one seems to take God's decisions to heart. We have to love what God loves and hate what God hates. There are only two roads mentioned in Matthew Chapter 8 that gives us any decision making power. One leads off to destruction and one leads to everlasting life. There is no "middle" or "moderate" ground. Search the Scriptures and see how God feels about things. Humans have misinterpreted so many of the Bibles values, that it's no wonder people feel they can believe what they want.

Hey, I am a protestant, but still a Christian... my religion never said the Bible was all true.. that every word of it is God's word. That cannot be true. The Bible is a collection of the writings of prophets, ancient historians and apostles.
We say it is all history and script, doesn't have to taken and interpreted literally!!!
But the moral guidance it gives..... that may prove useful sometimes, for a religious person... the Bible should be interpreted in that way, to learn the lessons it provides about life.
Those who take it literally are either stupid or religious fanatics - and those are dangerous, be it Christian, be it Muslim... see what happens... they start killing each other - horrible.....
I don't think God could have ordered any human being to kill, unless for OBVIOUS self-defense.

And it is nobody's business what kind of Sabbath or Sunday or whatever I am keeping, as long as I am not disturbing my neighbor with it. Or not? Religion is a PRIVATE thing, and it should be kept like that - that is the key of tolerance in this world..... what a pity that some get brainwashed and manipulated and raise up against the neighbor... :(

Wow! well, how appropriate that most of the answerers did not read or understand the whole question when it is obvious that you did not read or understand the Bible! There is a message there and a clear understanding of why we don't kill our neighbor who does not observe the Sabbath- unfortunately- because of the way many Christians are taught, most Christians cannot answer this question without tangling up other issues about the OT. If you are serious about wanting to know why- I owuld be more than happy to discuss this with oyu through email, otherwise do some reading before you spread false information about Chrisitanity.
And no, there is no such thing as moderate Christianity-there are however works in progress!

I'd say that statement is just another arrow in my quiver. Just one more reason to believe that religious nuts are dangerous. It's people like you who stood by and said it's God's will when Hitler was sending Jews, Gays and Gypsies to the gas Chambers. I bet you would make a great Nazi. Are you Catholic? Neo-Nazi then, Baptist maybe?

A moderate Christian is one that is lukewarm. The church of Laodacia was like this and Jesus spewed it out of his mouth like foul tasting water. God does the same with lukewarm Christians. He would rather that Christians be hot or cold. Lukewarm Christians are useless to God because they cannot make up their minds which way to go---they are non-committal.

A "real" Christian believes that Jesus Christ is God the Son, come to earth to serve as a sacrifice on the cross to restore me to relationship with Himself, as God.

If that is what you mean by "moderate," count me in. Otherwise, please quit listening to the media "experts" and define your position more accurately.
