Dogs go in heat any time from 5 months old on. You will want to set up a spay appointment for her ASAP before she goes in heat.Spaying before a heat pretty much eliminates the risk of mammary cancer and it does eliminate reproductive cancers and pyrometria infection.

You will see her porbably go into heat very soon. Depending on the dog it can be anywhere from 6 months to a year. That is why it is always recommended that if you are going to spade or neuter it should be done by at least 6 months.

Your dog should have already had her first heat cycle. If she hasn't then I think you can expect it anytime now. After that it will come every six months until you get her spayed!
