i am a spiritualist
the main misconception is that we summon up the dead ... this is not so , we respect spirit and honour their free will ... they come if they wish to and only then
the other misconception is that we are in some way working with Satan ... that we speak with demons posing as the dead ...
if this is so then Satan and/or the demons do a good job encouraging people to live good spiritual lives and speak highly of people like Jesus and God ... it is illogical to think Satan has a hand in this
and not every spiritualist is a medium ... and not every psychic is a medium ....and psychics and mediums are NOT fortune tellers each are separate things

wonderful question ... it gives people a chance to sort out some of those misconceptions xxx

Misconceptions about Roman Catholics and the Roman Catholic Church:

* The pope is NOT a man-god or king. And he is not infallible. The doctrine of papal infallibility is very specific and has only been invoked twice, both times on teachings about the Virgin Mary.

* Catholics do not worship Mary and Mary is nowhere near on the same level as God/Jesus/Holy Spirit. Most devotions to the Blessed Mother are what are called popular piety. These come from people and their own experiences. Often people will feel comforted by a mother figure, but this does not mean that Mary at all replaces Jesus.

* Catholics pray only to God (and the rest of the trinity). When we pray "to" Mary or the saints, what we are really doing is asking them to pray with us to God.

* The Church has very strict laws and beliefs, but it does NOT control how Catholics think.

* Catholics believe that forgiveness comes from God alone. The sacrament of reconciliation is, like the other sacraments, an outward expression of inward grace. (Yes, I personally wish that the sacrament could be administered by someone other than a priest, but that's another issue.)

People think I worship Satan because I am a Pagan. Nothing could be further from the truth. I worship God.
