Last night was my second date with this guy. We didn't kiss the first date. We were both too nervous. Anyway, he walked me to the front door and asked for a kiss. I wanted to, but my dad was right inside the house. I didn't want to kiss in front of my dad. My parents would have teased me terribly (they're very immature). I told him my dad was inside. We ended up just hugging, which was actually nice cause I didn't know how he felt about me. Like, at the movie he didn't put his arm around me or anything. I thought maybe he wasn't ready for that.

So yeah, is it okay if I did that? He told my friend he still likes me. I'm pretty sure he understood why. I think he was nervous too anyway.

Oh, and he said we could kiss on our next date...

From what you say, you two are pretty young. Maybe high school or middle school?

In that case, it's completely fine that you didn't kiss. In fact, a lot of times people take a relationship too quickly by getting intimate way to soon in the relationship, including kissing. It's ok that it's only the second date and you didn't kiss. I know people who've been dating for 3 months and still have not kissed on the lips. It really just depends on your comfort level and how you feel about the person you'll be kissing. Take your time and when the time is right for you to kiss, it'll happen. And just another word of advice, things can be so much sweeter and exciting if you build up the anticipation.

As far as your parents are concerned, teasing comes with the territory. I'm 20 years old and my parents tease me all the time about the silly pet names I call my boyfriend. And I hate to tell you this, but it will never stop completely.

Just relax and have a good time with this boy and don't stress yourself out about kissing him.

I think more dates should end as yours did beyond the second date. Take it from one who's been around for awhile, don't rush the passion. Take time to know and understand one another. I would say it's a good sign that he was mature enough to understand your reasons and as for the movies, that arm around your shoulder is old hat. To enjoy each others company and the movie, is much more pleasant. Would you rather have a stiff neck from leaning toward him, or he have a cramp in his arm, or the awkwardness of not being able really get comfortable in your seats? Take your time , it'll be more sincere and meaningfull in the end.

I wish I were young again! It's fine that you didn't kiss. Just continue to go out with the guy and things will happen in there own time.

You absolutely did the right thing; atleast now you know he likes you. There's plenty of time for the first kiss.

I think if he's from this planet he'll understand. It's not like you slamed the door on him, and let the dogs go.
don't worry so much and try to enjoy the fun times.

You did just fine.

It sounds like he likes you. You are a both a little nervous, and that's OK. Take things slowly.
